Why SIS Shines
Sounds In Syllables (SIS) stands out as an exceptional dyslexia remediation program, offering a distinctive approach. Here's what sets SIS apart:
Expert Oversight: SIS is exclusively administered by Academic Language Therapists, who possess the highest level of training in the field. They undergo an intensive practicum experience, making them the most qualified dyslexia therapists available.
Effective for All Levels: SIS has proven effective for individuals with varying levels of dyslexia severity, from the most profoundly affected to those with milder symptoms.
Lasting Results: SIS takes a comprehensive approach to dyslexia remediation. Therapists meticulously deconstruct the learning process into its smallest, incremental components, ensuring that students achieve genuine mastery of the English language.
Emphasis on Spelling: SIS places a strong emphasis on spelling, a crucial component of language proficiency.
"SIS changed my life. For years, I struggled with reading and felt like I was just stupid. It wasn't until high school, when I began working with an Academic Language Therapist with SIS, that my world turned around. I started high school making C's and D's. I graduated high school with solid B's. As I entered college, my confidence soared as I realized I was highly capable of excelling academically. Now, as a senior in college expecting to graduate with high honors, I am applying to graduate schools I never dreamed would be possibilities for me. I'm living proof that SIS can truly transform lives. I'm forever grateful."

A Little History of SIS
Sounds In Syllables (SIS) is a highly effective Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading, spelling, writing, and the foundations of syntax and grammar. Developed in the 1980s by Sandra Dillon, SIS draws from evidence-based practices in neurology, cognitive sciences, psychology, speech-language pathology, and linguistics.
In 2023, the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC) acquired SIS. ASDEC is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that SIS has established over the years. The program's high standards and efficacy will remain unchanged, ensuring that it continues to provide outstanding support to individuals in their journey to literacy and language proficiency.
